Agricultural Injury Surveillance Program

Community Partners for Healthy Farming

The Community Partners for Healthy Farming (CPHF) is a community based agricultural injury surveillance project located in six Kentucky counties. As a continuation of the Occupational Health Nurses in Agricultural Communities (OHNAC) project, cases are identified by hospitals and follow-up interviews are conducted by nurses. OHNAC was active from 1992 to 1997 in Barren, Warren, Hardin, Larue, Nelson, Bracken, Mason, Fleming and Robertson counties. CPHF is currently active in Barren, Warren, Rowan, Mason, Fleming and Bracken counties. Funding for these projects is provided by NIOSH.

Data/Results

Demographic, cause, relevant activities and other risk factors are collected. Translating these data into interventions begins by thoroughly describing the cases in aggregate form. These summaries are available for review. Specific queries should be directed to Tim Struttmann.
